On this pageSNAP-8 Key Facts
SNAP-8 (INCI name acetyl octapeptide-3) is a synthetic eight-amino-acid peptide. It is a two-residue extension of acetyl hexapeptide-3 and is studied in cosmetic-science research. This page is a short laboratory reference: identifiers, characterization and storage. It is supplied for laboratory research use only and does not report study outcomes.

What Is SNAP-8?
SNAP-8 is a short synthetic peptide first described in cosmetic-science research as an extension of acetyl hexapeptide-3. Both ends of the molecule are capped: an acetyl group on the N-terminus and an amide on the C-terminus. Capping removes the free charged ends, which generally makes a short peptide more resistant to exopeptidases. It belongs to the group of acetylated short peptides studied in that field.
Characterization and Quality Documentation
NuRev lots are tested by independent third-party laboratories. A useful Certificate of Analysis for a research peptide shows:
- Identity by mass spectrometry, matched to the expected molecular weight (about 1075 Da)
- Purity by HPLC, with the chromatogram
- A lot number identical to the one printed on the vial
- The name of the testing laboratory and the test date
Each NuRev vial label carries a QR code that opens the matching lot’s documents. All published reports are in the certificate of analysis library; see how to read a peptide COA for what each section means.
Storage and Handling of Lyophilized SNAP-8
SNAP-8 contains a methionine residue, which can oxidize. General practice for lyophilized peptides applies:
- Store the sealed vial at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Short-term storage at 2–8 °C is acceptable.
- Let the vial reach room temperature before opening, to avoid condensation.
- After reconstitution, aliquot the solution and avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
More detail is in our peptide storage guide. NuRev supplies SNAP-8 10 mg for laboratory research use only.
